It’s possible! Our boys won both of their games yesterday. Only oneof them counted toward playoff points, and we are patiently waiting to see if we placed 3rd or 4th in the division. Either place puts us in playoffs!
The first game was a tough one. We only had 8 players there, so they all had to play the whole game. They hung in, let me tell you. The first time we played this team at the beginning of the season, we tied them. Even though this game didn’t count toward playoff points, the boys played like it did. They rocked!
The second game was the one that counted and in the first few minutes, I thought we were not going to get it together enough to win it. The boys weren’t aggressive. They were letting the other team take the ball from them. The other team was beating us to the ball every single time. The boys seemed to be so “whatever” about the game. We were getting extremely lucky in front of the goal we were defending. Seriously. The other team had MULTIPLE opportunities to score on us and somehow didn’t. The ball was on our defensive side way too much for our liking and our defenders were just not doing what they were supposed to be doing. Finally, something clicked and the kidlet got the ball and took it up the field on a fast break and drove it straight to the goal and scored. I think the momentum finally started to build up a little at that point. The next goal was scored when the kidlet dribbled it up the field and passed it off to a teammate and he banged it in. The other team had scored two as well and I was sweating it. We needed a win, not a tie. Our winning goal was scored by the same kid who scored the winning goal in our morning game. He was doing what he was supposed to be doing…following another player’s shot…and he knocked it in with about a minute left in the game.
Now, we wait. We wait to see how the other two teams we were tied with did and find out by Tuesday if we are or are not in the playoffs. I believe we made it, but I am not 100% sure. I hope, for the boys’ sake, we made it. They deserve it. They have worked really hard this season and have improved a ton since the first night they stepped on the field. I am so proud of all of them.
I didn’t go to dinner with the girls last night. I was too exhausted and my sinuses were all messed up. I just wanted to take some sinus meds and crash. The kidlet and I started watching the Flyers game. I talked to Heather for a bit and then I was out like a light.
Today’s agenda includes mostly relaxing and resting, thank goodness!
