Wow, it’s hard to believe that today is the last day of 2007.  This past year has been a decent year.  I grew a lot in 2007.  I think back to where I was this time last year and things now are so much better.

I made new friends and reconnected with old.  I learned that it is possible to open your heart and love and trust again.  After what I had been through, I thought I would never be able to do it again.  But thanks to a special friend, I learned it truly is possible.  It’s a gift given to me I never expected and they didn’t realize they gave me.  Pretty cool, huh?

I learned from another dear friend that when you least expect it, the right one does truly come along.  It’s all about patience and, in my opinion, fate.  I truly believe all things happen for a reason.  The things we go through in life, good or bad, happy or sad, define who we are.

I spent my birthday with people I love and had a great time dancing, drinking, singing and playing tambourine with the band!  My cornhusker friend got to be there too and that rocked!

I attended my 20th year class reunion and got to see some people I haven’t seen since we graduated.  It was an amazing day.  I send out major props to the rest of the girls on the committee, we planned a freaking awesome reunion girls!

I got to spend precious time making memories with my son, who I love more than life (even when he’s got his Irish up and is pushing my buttons!).  Our summer camping trip was amazing and I can’t wait for more in the new year.  I watched him grow and improve playing soccer this past year.  He makes me so proud.

I got a new job, that is turning into a great career and my future looks very bright and very financially rewarding :)   Gotta love that!

I got to celebrate my father’s 70th birthday and all my siblings were there too.  We made sure to take lots of pictures.

And last, but not least, the best part of 2007, was the end of it…which turns out is a new beginning for me…ironic no?

Tonight, the kidlet and I will be ringing in the new year with three very special people and I am very excited.  The only way it could get any better is if I was ringing it in with all of the people that are very special to me…having you all in one place at one time is next to impossible, I know that, but I can dream, right?  Thank goodness for technology, cell phones, and texting :)

So, goodbye 2007…you were a good year…and hello 2008…I expect great things from you.

Happy New Year everyone!

Today the kidlet and I went to the grocery store to pick up a few things.  When we returned to our car, there were a ton of seagulls flying around the parking lot looking for stuff to eat.

The kidlet had some crackers that my mother had given to him at her house right before we went to the store.  He accidentally dropped some on the floor of the car and he threw them out the window and the gulls immediately swarmed to fight over the three or four he threw out there.  He was laughing at them fighting over the crackers.  I told him to hand me one, because I wanted to try something.

I took the cracker and opened my sunroof just enough to put it on the glass and closed it.  I wanted to see if we could get them to land on the sunroof and watch them eat it.  Sure enough, about three of them landed right on the sunroof and the kidlet and I were hysterical watching them right above our heads.  I couldn’t get my phone out to snap a picture because I was laughing too hard.

We attracted a crowd of people coming out of the store and a bunch of cars were stopping to watch what was going on.  They were hysterically laughing as well.  A couple in a really nice car pulled into the parking space next to us and had to wait a bit to get out because there were so many birds all over the place.  I am pretty sure that people thought we were insane.

Oh well, it’s all good.  I am halfway to insanity :)
