I wish it was only a bad case of loving you, but it’s the Adenovirus…not me, the kidlet.
Last evening, we came back from a walk and the kidlet said he didn’t feel very well. I felt his forehead and he felt warm, so I took his temp. It was around 100.4 and I figured some ibuprofen would help, so I gave him some and we headed to bed early.
He zonked out in my bed and I wasn’t about to carry him to his room, he’s heavy! When I woke up this morning around 5:30, it was because he was up next to me shivering. He was all covered up, so I figured he was still feverish. I took his temp and it was 102…eek. I immediately gave him more ibuprofen and put a call into the doctor to get him an appointment.
I took off work and called him off from school and waited for the doctor’s office to call. They called and we went in for a 9:45 appointment.
You would’ve thought they were giving something away as full as the place was. We waited in the waiting room and finally got called in about 15 minutes after our scheduled appointment time. At one point, I had to go get a bucket “just in case”. The kidlet swore he was gonna hurl. I am not good with vomit. If I hear someone yacking, I will yack. If I smell it, I will yack. When the kidlet is sick, I try to stand with him for moral support, but I can’t. He’s usually hanging over the toilet spewing and I am hanging over the tub spewing. The last time he was really sick, I merely hung over the tub and dry-heaved. The kidlet told me afterward that he was so proud of me because I didn’t vomit that time! YAY ME! Anyway, I digress.
He didn’t hurl in the bucket. I was so glad. The doctor saw him and examined him. I should probably mention that the kidlet’s hair was, well, a mess. It’s longer now and he barely brushed it and it was, um, big…sticking up all over…bee ay dee, bad. Ok, so as the doctor was examining him, she said to me, there were two viruses they have been seeing make their rounds. After she was done, she would tell me what he had. It was then I decided to be the dork that I am and tell the kidlet that I thought I knew what he had, a very bad case of badhairitis. The doctor snickered and the kidlet merely glared at me. Hey, I thought it was funny. Apparently, he did not.
Anyway, he can’t return to school until the fever is gone, doctor suggested not til Monday. AHHHHHHH! Fortunately, he can stay with my parents tomorrow and Friday. His fever has gone down to 100.9, and hopefully, tomorrow it will be lower.
We spent our day laying on the couch, him napping, me surfing the net in my sweats. It was kind of nice having some downtime, but tomorrow is gonna suck. It’s back to work for me, blah.
