Oy.

My dog got sprayed by a damn skunk last night in my backyard.  Apparently, I’ve got a family of them living under my shed…goody!

I put him outside last night like I always do and he apparently went over to the shed and stuck his nose down the skunkhole and got sprayed.  I didn’t know this until I suddenly smelled skunk and then opened the back door to see my dog snorting and shaking his head.  He got it right in the face.  This is a first for me.  It was so strong and foul that at first I wasn’t sure he really got sprayed.  I leaned down to smell to make sure and it smelled a little like gasoline so I checked to make sure that he didn’t knock over the gas can on himself.  He didn’t.  It was definitely skunk.

So I grabbed him and took him straight to the bathroom and started to rinse his face off.  Then, I washed him off.  It took it away a little…very little.  My entire house smelled so bad it gave me a headache.  I told the kidlet to keep his door closed so the smell wouldn’t get in his room and neither would the dog :)

I googled to see what to do to take the stank away on the dog.  I found a site that says to use Massengill…yeah, the douche.  I have to go buy Massengill and douche my dog!  Ok, there were other concoctions I will try before I douche my dog’s face, trust me.  But the old tomato juice thing doesn’t work according to several sites.  One of them is vanilla extract and water, so I will try that first.

This morning when I took the dog out to the backyard, he didn’t go anywhere near the shed!  LMAO!  I hope he learned a lesson because I don’t want my house smelling like that ever again.
