what a day.
today we lost one of the good guys. a guy that i worked with. it wasn’t expected, but then again, when is losing someone ever really expected.
he was only 42. and, though i only knew him briefly, i knew immediately, he was a really good guy. married, two boys, very active in his kids’ lives, very active in the community. a volunteer fire fighter, 1st deputy chief to be exact.
a good friend, a wonderful father, a great husband. just an all-around really, genuinely good person.
my heart just breaks for his family. he and his wife just celebrated their anniversary on june 28. they were together from the time she was 16 and he 18, almost unheard of in this day and age.
his boys are pretty amazing kids. good boys. raised well.
my heart breaks for our co-workers, who worked with him for more than 20 years and considered him family.
it’s just sad and unbelievable.
rest in peace, corey, rest in peace.
I woke up ENTIRELY too early today…5:00 am to be exact. Like, my eyes were all wide open and wouldn’t close again.
So, I got up and took the dogs out so they could empty their little bladders and run around the yard like their asses were on fire. Who the hell has that much energy at 5:00 am except maybe Richard Simmons????? Not me, that’s fo sho.
So, after the furry little maniacs decided to come back in, I shuffled around in the kitchen and made a pot of coffee. I used to drink nearly a whole pot a day in the office…you know, when I was employed…but haven’t made any at home in forever. So, I did that and fired up the laptop while I waited for it to be done.
It was nice and chilly in the house this morning and not sweltering like last week. THANK DOG! I don’t dig humidity at all.
Finally my liquid heaven was finished brewing and I started perusing the classifieds online. I found a couple things and sent off my resume…fingers crossed!
By this time, puppy mchyperpants was sleeping with his chewy sock in his mouth…apparently, he fell asleep in mid chomp, ha ha ha. I was too lazy to get up and grab the camera to take a picture. Trust me, it was funny.
The kidlet finally woke up, like 6 hours after I did and came downstairs. His hair was crazy. I thought I would just mention that.
We decided that we would go play some mini golf today. So, we both got ourselves together and headed out to golf. I had to go to the Walmart for some sunglasses for the kidlet. He’s been complaining that the sun bothers his eyes, so we picked him up a cheapie pair there. Then, we headed to the mini golf course. I totally kicked his ass, but he thinks he won. We are super duper competitive and VERY serious about playing. I am pretty sure that the people behind us were annoyed at us, lmao! I really only beat him by 5 strokes, so it wasn’t a really huge spanking…he held his own. In fact, he was really good today. Sometimes, he gets all frustrated and pissy and then starts hitting the ball like it’s hockey or something…hello, a little easier there Bobby Clarke, mmmmkay?
Oh, the title of this post? You were probably wondering about that! Well, this picture should explain that a little better:

Yeah, that shirtless hottie was walking around at the golf course. hold.me.back. The kidlet and I both noticed him at the exact same time. I pretended that I was taking a picture of the kidlet and snapped this one instead. Now, here’s the deal…I think he probably should’ve been wearing a tank top at least and not walking around without a shirt, it’s, um, unprofessional…this isn’t the WCW Smackdown, it’s a golf course…there were little children about. They didn’t need to be seeing his manboobs.
We finished our golf game and headed home. I barely had any road rage….uhhhhhhh….yeahright! I can’t deal with some of these idiots with licenses! Seriously. Some dude cut me off and then gave me the finger…ok, thanks. And, if I knew effing Spanish, I could’ve told his ass off…dickweed.
We finished our evening off with dinner at Friendly’s. Our server was flaming so hard, he almost set me on fire when he walked by. Srsly. He’s a nice guy, but he sucks as a server. Twice he forgot my drink and was pretty lax with the customer service. I tipped accordingly. Sorry bub, but I don’t pay for crappy service.
I am full and I have gas. Is that too much information?
Ok, so since I wrote last, there has been a whirlwind of activity in my life.
Friday, I was “laid off” from my job. It is all good, I have filed for unemployment and am actively searching for a new job. A HUGE weight has been lifted from my shoulders, let me tell you. Long story short, I was hired to work for the company, NOT the owner’s family, and he couldn’t understand why I had a problem with him thinking it was ok that his daughter could call in and dictate letters to me and then fax them. He also felt that it was fine for him to call me at any given time and have me run to his house to take care of his dog…hello? I was hired as an administrative manager, not your family’s personal assitant. I wasn’t being paid enough to do both, trust me. What really sucks is, I LIKED the job I was hired for, more than I thought I would. It’s all good though, it will work out fine, it always does
My uncle’s services were Sunday evening and yesterday morning. His viewing was in the Poconos. That’s where he and my aunt retired to, their “cabin” in the Heights. The Heights, really Pocono Heights, is where I spent a lot of time as a kid. We had a summer home there too. After his service, we were invited back to the clubhouse in the Heights were friends of my aunt and uncle put together a dinner for everyone who attended his service. It was really nice. The clubhouse is a new one, the original burnt down 20 years ago. I have such fond memories of the clubhouse from when I was a kid. I blew my first bubblegum bubble in the clubhouse
Weird memory, huh? The clubhouse is up on a hill and overlooks the lake we swam in as kids. The lake looked so huge to me as a kid. Now it looks like a huge puddle
I have lots of memories of being at the lake with my aunt and uncle and cousins…good times.
His funeral was yesterday in Paoli, he’s being buried next to his parents. It was such a nice service. It was a celebration of his life. He had a good one. He was such a funny, laid back, genuine guy. He loved golf and the Philadelphia Eagles. He traveled with the team when they went to the superbowl in New Orleans. I was SO JEALOUS as a kid that he got to do that
I BEGGED him to put me in his suitcase and sneak me on the plane too, ha ha ha! I remember looking through all his pictures with him when he returned from N’awlins. He was so excited to show me the pictures. He loved to travel too. He and my aunt saw amazing places. He was laid to rest in his bright green Masters’ jacket and one of his golf clubs was in there too
It sucks he’s gone, this world was definitely a better place because of him. RIP Uncle Ponz, we sure will miss you.
The luncheon afterwards was nice. My aunt, his widow, sat with me and the kidlet for a bit. She and I have always been close. She asked me to come and visit with her for a couple days. We are going to since I have some time off
The kidlet and I are really looking forward to it. I think she is too
So, there ya have it. You are updated and I am off to catch up on y’all…and surf the classifieds…and then go swimming
